Where is Baan Zen?
Baan Zen is located on Klong Prao beach, Koh Chang.
Koh Chang is an island in the Gulf of Thailand and otherwise known as Elephant Island because of its shape. It is Thailand’s second largest island and the largest island in the Mu Ko Chang National Park archipelago. It is a very mountainous island known for its beaches, waterfalls, rainforests, amazing local food and friendly people.
Koh Chang is 310 kms from Bangkok, which includes a 30 minute ferry from the mainland, and is 150 kms from the Cambodia border. The lifestyle on the island, is laidback and runs on a clock of its own.
The villages boast endless restaurants, accommodations from budget backpacker to exorbitant and beaches that range from hippy hangouts at Lonely Beach to tranquil get-aways on Sai Daeng Beach to the faster-paced tourist hot spot of Had Sai Khao, or White Sand Beach. Whatever it is you are looking for, Koh Chang definitely has it.
Klong Prao Beach is the longest beach on Koh Chang and wraps itself around the majority of the central area of the west coast of the island. The beach is divided into three sections by the Klong Prao river estuary in the center and a narrower river near the southern end.
Baan Zen is located on the banks of the narrow river. It is a serene hide-away situated down a side road 200 metres from the main road in Klong Prao village.
Getting Around the Island
The only public transport on Koh Chang are the white pick up truck taxis which run from the ferry piers down the west coast to Bangbao. Just stand by the road and flag one down.
Scooter rental is available in the village and we can arrange car hire if that’s required during your stay.
