How to come to Koh Chang from Bangkok
or From Bangkok International  Airport ( Suvarnabhumi ) ?

There are 2 daily flights from Bangkok Airport :

Departure Bangkok airport 9.00 am  > Arrival Trat aiport  10.00 am
Departure Bangkok airport 4.35 pm  > Arrival Trat aiport  5.35 pm
Cost : 2,500 bath one way

From TRAT airport take the Bangkok Airways minibus service to any resort on the island, Cost is about 470 baht/person.

By Bus 99 express from  Ekkamai bus terminal in Bangkok .

Departure from Ekkamai ( Stop at the airport )
6.30 am / 7.45 am   bus direct  to Ao Thammachart (Koh Chang Ferry pier)
9.30 am Bus direct to Center Point Ferry ( koh chang )

This bus stop at the International Aiport 45 minutes after the departure from bangkok
(ex:  Departure ekkamai bus staiton 7.45 am , Stop airport 8.30 am )

Cost : 239 baht per person.  . 7.45 am Arrival around 1pm at the ferry pier ( main land );You should be able catch the 1.30 pm or 2 pm  ferry

You could be in your bungalow around 3 pm and relax on the beach
You will have to buy your ferry ticket ( 80 bath pp one way ), And then  to pay for the local taxi ( songtaew ) on koh chang side ( 60 to 120 baht pp , depending of your destination )

* By Koh Chang express Bus  392 From Suvarnabhumi Airport

Suvarnabhumi airport - Koh Chang express bus will just drive - non stop -onto the Centerpoint ferry with all passengers and their luggage on board and, after a  ferry ride of approximately 45 minutes, carry everyone over the first hills to Klong Son ( north Koh Chang ). From there you will have to board a local taxi ( songthaew ) to reach your final destination ( cost 50 to 100 bath )

Departure from Suvarnabhumi airport at 7.30 am only

Departure from Koh Chang :2.40 pm

It is possible to get  a taxi at Bangkok Airport and go to the mainland ferry piers for Koh Chang.   The cost will depend on both your bargaining capacities , normally around 3,2000 bath, sometimes more

The taxis won't go onto the island, they'll drop you off at the pier and then come back to Bangkok or to the airport .  So you'll still have to buy ferry tickets and then take a songtaew ( local truck ) to your resort in koh chang ; The cost for klong Prao beach is 60 bath (may 2011 ) if the songtaew is full ( which means 12 pax )
If not full ( that 's the case usually  if you arrive with the last ferry or during the low season ....expect to pay more  ( 100 bath pp, sometimes more ;-)) Good way to practice your brand new thai language skill ... and your bargaining capacities !!
